Kelli Ferrell (née Potter) is an American reality television personality and businesswoman based in the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area. She rose to public prominence as a cast member on the sixteenth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, the long-running Bravo reality television series, which premiered on March 9, 2025.[1] Ferrell joined the series as part of a significant cast overhaul that saw several longtime housewives depart and new faces introduced. Since her debut on the show, Ferrell has become a frequent subject of media coverage, particularly in connection with an ongoing and contentious legal dispute with her ex-husband, Mark Ferrell, involving child support, business ownership, and multiple court proceedings. Her personal and legal struggles, as depicted both on and off the show, have made her one of the more discussed newcomers in the Real Housewives franchise during the 2025–2026 television cycle.

Career

The Real Housewives of Atlanta

Kelli Ferrell was announced as a cast member for the sixteenth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta ahead of its premiere on Bravo in 2025. The season represented a major transition for the long-running franchise, which had undergone an extensive cast shakeup. Several veteran cast members departed the show prior to Season 16, including Kandi Burruss,[2] Marlo Hampton,[3] Shereé Whitfield,[4] and Sanya Richards-Ross.[5] Kenya Moore also exited the series following a suspension related to an explicit photos scandal.[6]

In the wake of these departures, the show's producers assembled a largely new cast. Returning housewives Porsha Williams and Phaedra Parks were joined by Ferrell and several other new additions, including Drew Sidora, Brit Eady, Shamea Morton, and Angela Oakley.[1][7][8] Cynthia Bailey appeared in a recurring role as a "friend of the housewives," and Kenya Moore made guest appearances during the season.[1]

The season was primarily filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, and concluded on July 27, 2025. Executive producers for the season included Steven Weinstock, Glenda Hersh, Lauren Eskelin, Lorraine Haughton-Lawson, Glenda Cox, Shanae Humphrey, and Andy Cohen.[1] The season's promotional trailer, released ahead of the premiere, previewed the interpersonal dynamics and conflicts among the new cast.[9]

On-Screen Dynamics and Public Feuds

During and after the airing of Season 16, Ferrell became involved in a public social media feud with castmate Drew Sidora. In February 2026, Sidora addressed the conflict in an interview with Page Six, in which she described the nature of their dispute and referred to Ferrell as a "spicy Chihuahua."[10] The feud attracted significant tabloid attention and contributed to ongoing public discourse about the cast dynamics of the revamped series.

Personal Life

Marriage and Divorce

Kelli Ferrell was previously married to Mark Ferrell. The couple's marriage ended in divorce, and their post-divorce relationship has been marked by protracted and highly publicized legal disputes. The legal conflicts between Kelli and Mark Ferrell have become a recurring subject in tabloid media, particularly after Kelli Ferrell's profile increased through her appearance on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Child Support Disputes

In December 2025, Mark Ferrell was jailed for allegedly failing to pay child support. According to Us Weekly, Kelli Ferrell's RHOA castmate Phaedra Parks, who is also a practicing attorney, took on the case and helped bring the matter to court, resulting in Mark Ferrell's incarceration.[11]

In January 2026, it was reported that Mark Ferrell was released from jail after spending 17 nights behind bars and paying $61,000 in connection with alleged unpaid child support obligations.[12]

In March 2026, Ferrell returned to court, accusing Mark Ferrell of owing nearly $8,000 in additional child support payments. TMZ reported that the ongoing litigation reflected continuing tensions between the former couple over financial obligations related to their children.[13][14]

Federal Lawsuit

In November 2025, CBS News reported that Mark Ferrell filed a federal lawsuit against Kelli Ferrell and Rockdale County officials. In the lawsuit, Mark Ferrell alleged that his ex-wife and county officials used fraud and the court system to strip him of his business.[15] The lawsuit named Ferrell under her birth name, Kelli Potter, and accused her and the county officials of conspiring to use fraudulent means and the judicial system to take control of Mark Ferrell's business operations. The case attracted media attention due to Ferrell's public profile as a reality television personality. As of March 2026, the outcome of the federal lawsuit had not been publicly resolved.

Mark Ferrell's Arrest

In March 2026, TMZ reported that Mark Ferrell was arrested on a theft charge, representing another chapter in the series of legal troubles surrounding Kelli Ferrell's ex-husband.[16]

Neighbor Altercation

In September 2025, Us Weekly reported exclusively that Ferrell called police after a neighbor allegedly assaulted her. Ferrell reportedly responded to the incident by stating, "I got time today."[17] The incident was widely covered by entertainment media outlets.

Recognition

Kelli Ferrell's primary claim to public recognition stems from her casting on Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, one of the most-watched and culturally discussed franchises in American reality television. Her introduction to the series came during a period of significant transition, as multiple original and long-tenured cast members departed, and the show sought to reinvent its ensemble. The Season 16 cast, including Ferrell, was the subject of extensive pre-premiere media coverage, including features in Deadline Hollywood and People magazine.[1][18]

Ferrell's off-screen legal disputes with her ex-husband further elevated her public profile, with coverage appearing in outlets including TMZ, CBS News, Us Weekly, Page Six, Rolling Out, and AOL.[16][15][11][10][14][12] The involvement of her castmate Phaedra Parks in her child support case blurred the lines between the show's narrative and real-world legal proceedings, generating additional attention from both entertainment and legal news outlets.[11]

Her social media exchanges with castmate Drew Sidora also generated tabloid headlines and contributed to audience engagement with the show during and after its broadcast run.[10]
