Angela Oakley is married to Charles Oakley, a former NBA power forward who played for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards, and Houston Rockets during a career spanning from 1985 to 2004.[5] Charles Oakley was selected ninth overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1985 NBA Draft and went on to play 19 seasons in the league, becoming one of the most recognized rebounders and defensive players of his era.[6]
In January 2026, Angela Oakley shared an update on her marriage to Charles Oakley via social media, expressing gratitude about their relationship. In the post, she used the word "Thankful" to describe her feelings about their union, providing a public signal about the state of their marriage following a period of media scrutiny.[7]

Charles Oakley's Career Background
Charles Oakley attended Virginia Union University, where he played college basketball from 1981 to 1985. He was drafted ninth overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1985 NBA Draft but began his professional career with the Chicago Bulls. In 1988, he was traded to the New York Knicks in exchange for Bill Cartwright, a move that was reported by The New York Times.[12] Oakley spent 10 seasons with the Knicks, becoming one of the franchise's most recognized players during the 1990s. In 1998, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Marcus Camby.[13]
Over his 19-season career, Charles Oakley accumulated 12,417 points (9.7 per game), 12,205 rebounds (9.5 per game), and 3,217 assists (2.5 per game).[14] After retiring as a player, he served as an assistant coach for the Charlotte Bobcats during the 2010–2011 season.[15] In 2016, he was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.[16]
