Danica Dow is an American television personality and restaurant worker who gained public attention as a cast member on the Bravo reality television series Vanderpump Rules during its eighth and ninth seasons. Dow joined the show as a newer addition to the ensemble cast, working as a hostess at SUR Restaurant & Lounge in West Hollywood, California — the restaurant owned by Lisa Vanderpump that serves as the central setting of the series. Her time on the show was marked by interpersonal conflicts with fellow cast members and off-camera personal disputes that drew media coverage, including a widely reported restraining order filing against her ex-boyfriend and SUR co-worker Brett Willis. Prior to and during her television appearances, Dow worked in the restaurant and hospitality industry in the Los Angeles area. She departed the series after the ninth season as the show underwent significant cast changes heading into subsequent installments.

Career

Vanderpump Rules

Dow became a cast member on Vanderpump Rules beginning with its eighth season, which premiered in January 2020. The series, which first aired on Bravo on January 7, 2013, was developed as the first spin-off of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and centers on Lisa Vanderpump and the staff at her West Hollywood restaurants and bars, including SUR Restaurant & Lounge, Pump Restaurant, and TomTom.[1] Dow worked as a hostess at SUR, placing her within the restaurant's staff dynamic that forms the foundation of the show's premise.[2]

Upon joining the cast, Dow was described in media coverage as a newcomer who was "already bringing the drama" to the series.[2] Her introduction to the show came during a period when Vanderpump Rules was expanding its cast beyond the original group that had been with the series since its 2013 debut. The original cast had included Stassi Schroeder, Jax Taylor, Kristen Doute, Tom Sandoval, and Scheana Shay, among others.[3]

During her time on the show, Dow appeared in lifestyle and promotional content associated with the Bravo franchise. In May 2020, Bravo featured Dow in style-oriented coverage, highlighting her fashion choices and home décor.[4] In a separate piece published by Bravo in April 2020, Dow shared a look inside her home in a feature describing her living space as having a "bohemian-style" aesthetic, photographed during the period of stay-at-home orders related to the COVID-19 pandemic.[5]

The eighth season of Vanderpump Rules aired during a tumultuous period for the show. In June 2020, Bravo fired cast members Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni following revelations about past racially insensitive behavior.[6] Subsequently, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright also departed the series.[7] Fellow newcomer Dayna Kathan also left the show during this transitional period.[8]

Departure from the Series

Dow appeared through the ninth season of Vanderpump Rules before departing the cast. In October 2020, during the period between seasons, Bravo reported that Dow had moved out of West Hollywood, with Dow herself describing the relocation as an "excited" start to a "new chapter."[9] Her departure was part of broader cast changes as Bravo restructured the show's ensemble heading into future seasons. Details regarding the filming and cast composition of subsequent seasons were reported by Bravo as the show continued to evolve.[10]

Dow was later included in retrospective media coverage documenting the various cast members who had joined and subsequently left Vanderpump Rules over the course of its twelve-season run. Us Weekly profiled former cast members in a July 2025 feature chronicling where departed stars had moved on to after their time on the series.[11]

Other Work

Dow has been listed on Rotten Tomatoes' celebrity database, which includes production photos and images associated with her entertainment career.[12] Her work in the entertainment industry has been primarily associated with her role on Vanderpump Rules and her employment in the hospitality sector in the Los Angeles area. She is also listed in the Internet Movie Database in connection with the series.[13]

Personal Life

In August 2020, Dow filed a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Brett Willis, who also worked as a bartender at SUR restaurant in West Hollywood. The filing was reported by multiple media outlets, including E! News and People magazine. According to reports, the restraining order was filed in connection with off-camera disputes between Dow and Willis, both of whom were employed at the same establishment featured on Vanderpump Rules.[14][15]

In October 2020, Dow announced that she had moved out of West Hollywood. She shared the news publicly and expressed enthusiasm about starting a new phase of her life outside the neighborhood that had been central to her time on the show.[9] During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dow was photographed at her West Hollywood residence, which was described as having a bohemian-inspired interior design style.[5]

Recognition

Dow's public profile was built primarily through her appearances on Vanderpump Rules, one of Bravo's longest-running reality series. The show, which premiered in 2013 and has aired twelve seasons, has generated significant media attention and spawned three spin-off series: Vanderpump Rules After Show, Vanderpump Rules: Jax & Brittany Take Kentucky, and The Valley.[16]

During her time as a cast member, Dow received coverage from entertainment media outlets including Bravo's own digital platforms, E! News, People magazine, Us Weekly, and YourTango, among others. Her lifestyle content was featured on Bravo's website, which published multiple articles about her fashion, home, and personal life during the eighth and ninth season runs.[17][5][9]
