Brett Caprioni is an American reality television personality and social media content creator who gained public attention as a cast member on the eighth season of Vanderpump Rules, the Bravo reality series centered on Lisa Vanderpump and her West Hollywood restaurant empire. Caprioni joined the show in 2019 as one of several new cast members brought in alongside Max Boyens, Dayna Kathan, and others to refresh the series' lineup. His tenure on the show was brief but eventful; in June 2020, Bravo confirmed that Caprioni, along with Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, and Boyens, would not return for future seasons after racially insensitive social media posts resurfaced. Following his departure from reality television, Caprioni transitioned into a career as a social media content creator. In his personal life, he became publicly linked to beauty influencer Carli Bybel, with the couple announcing their engagement on New Year's Eve 2025.
Career
Vanderpump Rules
Vanderpump Rules premiered on Bravo on January 7, 2013, as a spin-off of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.[1] The series focuses on Lisa Vanderpump and the staff at her West Hollywood restaurants and bars, including SUR Restaurant & Lounge, Pump Restaurant, and Tom Tom.[2] By its eighth season, the show had become one of Bravo's signature series, having undergone multiple renewals and cast shifts over the years.[3]
Caprioni was introduced as a cast member during Season 8, which aired in early 2020. He was among a group of new additions to the show who worked at Vanderpump's establishments and were integrated into the show's existing social dynamics. During the season, Caprioni became involved in several storylines, including interactions with Lisa Vanderpump herself. In one notable moment from the season, Caprioni expressed his admiration for Vanderpump, with Bravo promoting a preview clip from Season 8, Episode 15, under the headline "Brett Caprioni Is Completely in Love With Lisa Vanderpump," referencing a lighthearted comment in which he suggested he would "slide into those DMs" if Vanderpump were single.[4]
Departure from Bravo
On June 9, 2020, Bravo and production company Evolution Media confirmed that four cast members — Caprioni, Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, and Max Boyens — would not return to Vanderpump Rules for future seasons.[5][6] The firings came amid a national reckoning over racial issues in the United States. Schroeder and Doute were let go after it emerged that they had previously called police on Faith Stowers, a Black former cast member, in connection with a crime she did not commit. Caprioni and Boyens were terminated after racially insensitive tweets they had posted years earlier resurfaced publicly.[7]
Shortly after the announcement, Caprioni spoke publicly about his termination. In a statement reported by People magazine on June 11, 2020, he described himself as "a good guy who made a mistake," referencing the social media posts that had led to his firing. He expressed gratitude toward Lisa Vanderpump and the show for the opportunity he had been given.[7] In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight published around the same time, Caprioni said he would "always be grateful" to Lisa Vanderpump, offering words of appreciation for the reality television figure despite the circumstances of his departure.[8]
Later that year, additional cast changes continued to reshape Vanderpump Rules. Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright were also let go from the series.[9] Dayna Kathan, another Season 8 addition who had appeared alongside Caprioni, also departed the show.[10] Bravo subsequently announced plans for Season 9 with a reconfigured cast.[11]
Post-Television Career
Following his departure from Vanderpump Rules, Caprioni transitioned away from reality television and into social media content creation. According to a 2024 profile by Nicki Swift, Caprioni pivoted to building a presence as a content creator and influencer after his time on the show ended.[12] His post-show trajectory was documented in a 2025 Us Weekly feature examining former Vanderpump Rules cast members and their subsequent endeavors, which profiled where various departed stars had ended up after leaving the series.[13]
Personal Life
Caprioni's personal life has attracted media coverage primarily through his relationship with Carli Bybel, a beauty influencer and content creator. The couple's relationship has been documented in entertainment media, including periods during which they were reportedly not together.
In October 2025, Bybel confirmed publicly via a TikTok video that she and Caprioni had reconciled. People magazine reported on October 18, 2025, that in the video, Bybel, then 35, walked toward a cake while celebrating her reunion with Caprioni, marking a public acknowledgment that the couple was back together after a period apart.[14]
On New Year's Eve 2025, Caprioni proposed to Bybel. The couple announced their engagement through Instagram, with Bybel calling it the "easiest yes of my life." People magazine reported on the engagement on January 2, 2026, describing Caprioni as a Vanderpump Rules alum and Bybel as an influencer.[15] Parade also covered the engagement, with Caprioni writing on social media that "forever isn't long enough" in reference to the proposal.[16]
Recognition
Caprioni's public profile has been shaped primarily by his appearance on Vanderpump Rules and his subsequent relationship with Carli Bybel. While his time on the Bravo series lasted only a single season, his departure from the show in June 2020 attracted significant media attention as part of a broader wave of cast firings that became one of the most widely covered stories in reality television that year. The simultaneous termination of four cast members — Caprioni, Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, and Max Boyens — was reported by outlets including Variety, People, and Entertainment Tonight, and became part of a larger conversation about accountability in the entertainment industry.[7][17]
Years after his departure from the show, Caprioni continued to be referenced in media coverage of Vanderpump Rules, particularly in retrospective features examining the trajectories of former cast members. The Nicki Swift profile in March 2024, titled "Whatever Happened To Brett Caprioni From Vanderpump Rules?", indicated sustained public curiosity about his post-show life.[12] His engagement to Bybel in late 2025 generated renewed media interest, with coverage from People, Parade, and other entertainment outlets.[15]
