Vivek Olumbe is an American software engineer and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of Affil.ai, an artificial intelligence compliance and monitoring platform for affiliate marketing in the financial services industry. The company was part of Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch.[1]

Early life and education

Olumbe attended Cheltenham High School in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was recognized as valedictorian. He subsequently enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in Economics (class of 2023).

While at Penn, Olumbe served as a teaching assistant for the Programming Languages and Techniques course (CIS 120) in the Department of Computer and Information Science.

Career

Before founding Affil.ai, Olumbe held software engineering roles at Vertex Inc. and ToughSignal, Inc., working as a full stack engineer at the latter.

In Fall 2019, Olumbe and John Ta co-founded Common Cents, described as Penn's first and only personal finance club, which aimed to help students nationwide achieve financial independence. The organization operated until 2023.[2]

In 2024, Olumbe and Ta reunited to co-found Affil.ai, based in San Francisco. The company builds AI-powered compliance tools for external marketing content, with a particular focus on the financial services sector. Affil.ai's platform monitors affiliate and partner content — including articles and videos — to identify potential compliance and brand guideline violations. For example, the company works with content creators to ensure that their marketing materials meet credit card marketing guidelines and other financial regulatory requirements.[3]

The platform addresses several challenges faced by financial companies managing affiliate networks: tracking when partners publish or edit content, identifying compliance issues within lengthy articles or videos, and streamlining communication between brands, affiliate networks, and individual affiliates. Affil.ai operates in the artificial intelligence, SaaS, B2B, compliance, and marketing sectors. As of 2024, the company had four employees.
