Josef Zoller is a Swiss-based software engineer and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and Chief Engineering Officer of Stillwind, a technology company focused on autonomous electrical engineering. Stillwind was part of the Y Combinator Winter 2025 batch.[1]

Early life and education

Zoller studied computer science at ETH Zurich, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree from 2021 to 2025. During his studies, he served as a teaching assistant at the Singapore-ETH Centre from 2022 to 2023.

Career

In 2024, Zoller co-founded Stillwind alongside Linus Meierhöfer. At the company, Zoller holds the title of Chief Engineering Officer.

Stillwind's stated mission is to build tools for autonomous electrical engineering. The company's first product, Stillwind Search, is a search engine designed to simplify the process of finding electronic components. The tool allows engineers to use natural language queries — for example, describing a use case and voltage requirement in plain text — which are then converted into fine-grained technical specifications and matched against a proprietary database containing millions of electronic parts.[2]

According to the company, existing databases of electronic parts, such as distributor catalogues and datasheet aggregators, typically use coarse-grained schemas and lack the ability to handle queries that combine both semantic meaning and exact specifications. Stillwind Search is intended to address these limitations.

Beyond component search, Stillwind has outlined a broader product roadmap that includes real-time digital simulation of circuits, analog circuit modeling using machine learning methods, firmware-in-the-loop testing, and spatial reasoning capabilities for component placement and routing. The company describes these planned capabilities as steps toward a more comprehensive autonomous electrical engineering platform.[2]

Stillwind operates in the areas of artificial intelligence, AIOps, and electronics.[1]
