Winston Chi is an American entrepreneur and software engineer. He is the founder and CEO of Noso Labs, a company that builds artificial intelligence agents for field service technicians to improve diagnostics, sales, and administrative workflows.[1] Noso Labs is part of Y Combinator's Summer 2025 batch.[2]

Career

Before founding Noso Labs, Chi worked as a software engineer at several technology and finance companies. He held software engineering positions at Bloomberg and TripAdvisor, where he contributed to machine learning application development. He also worked as a research engineer at AQR.[3]

Chi subsequently co-founded Butter Technologies, a software platform designed to serve as an operating system for food wholesale and distribution businesses. Butter digitized ordering and operational processes for food distributors selling to restaurants and supermarkets, and provided analytics tools for managing their businesses. In November 2022, Butter raised a $9 million Series A funding round led by Gradient Ventures, Google's AI-focused venture fund.[4] In May 2024, GrubMarket acquired Butter to strengthen its AI-powered software capabilities for the American food supply chain. Chi told TechCrunch at the time that "most parties, including our investors and us, are making money" from the exit.[5]

Following the acquisition of Butter, Chi founded Noso Labs. The company develops AI-powered mobile agents for field technicians in the home services industry, including HVAC, plumbing, and related trades. The platform addresses three core tasks that field technicians are expected to perform: diagnosing issues, making sales, and completing paperwork. Noso Labs' AI agents automate job note capture, CRM updates, follow-up scheduling, and sales opportunity identification, escalating tasks to back-office staff only when necessary. The company's clients include field service companies such as Apex Service Partners, HomeServ Partners, and others in the HVAC and plumbing sectors.[6]
