Early Legal Practice

Steele began her legal career in 2004 at Vinson & Elkins, LLP as an associate in their International Capital Markets and Securities practice.^[8] During her decade-long tenure at the firm, which lasted until 2014, she gained extensive experience practicing on location in multiple international jurisdictions including the Middle East, China, and London.

At Vinson & Elkins, Steele represented clients in cross-border transactions and regulatory compliance matters.^[9] Her work included advising international issuers on ongoing compliance obligations under U.S. securities laws and representing both underwriters and issuers in various debt and equity securities offerings. These transactions encompassed registered offerings, private placements, shelf offerings, tender offers, and exchange offers on major exchanges including the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, as well as international securities offerings on foreign stock exchanges.^[10]

In 2015, Steele joined Arent Fox LLP as Senior Attorney in their Corporate Finance practice in Washington, D.C.^[11] In this role, she served as senior counsel and primary client contact on matters related to securities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate regulation.
