Tejas Konduru is an Indian American entrepreneur and co-founder of Toothy AI, a company developing artificial intelligence tools for insurance verification and billing at dental clinics. Toothy AI was part of the Y Combinator Winter 2025 batch.[1]
Career
Konduru co-founded VIA, a company based in San Jose, California, that operated in the e-commerce space. VIA was founded in 2018 and later ceased operations. Konduru was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Retail & Ecommerce category for 2022 in connection with his work at VIA.
Konduru subsequently co-founded Toothy AI alongside Johnny Chen. The company, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, builds AI agents designed to automate insurance-related administrative tasks at dental practices. According to the company, the average dental clinic spends over 160 hours per month on insurance tasks such as verifying patient policies, submitting claims, billing, and processing reimbursements. Toothy AI's platform automates these workflows, including placing insurance verification calls using voice AI, and writes results directly back to the clinic's practice management software (PMS).[2]
The company's product suite includes three main services: automated insurance verifications for upcoming appointments (covering both primary and secondary coverage), end-to-end insurance billing encompassing clean claim submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable follow-up, and real-time dashboards and reports that provide visibility into verifications, billing, collections, and claim aging. The company reports that its platform can save dental practices between 80 and 240 or more hours per month and help achieve collection ratios above 97 percent.[2]
Toothy AI operates at the intersection of artificial intelligence, health technology, and dental industry services, categorized by Y Combinator under Artificial Intelligence, Health Tech, Healthcare, Dental, and Conversational AI.[1]
