Sri Raghu Malireddi is an Indian-American software engineer and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of Moss, a developer tools company that provides real-time semantic search infrastructure for conversational and multimodal artificial intelligence applications. Moss is a member of the Y Combinator Fall 2025 batch.[1]
Career
Prior to founding Moss, Malireddi worked as a machine learning engineer at Grammarly. His academic research has received over 113 citations, with work spanning machine learning and computer vision. He is a co-author of the 2017 paper "HandSeg: An Automatically Labeled Dataset for Hand Segmentation from Depth Images," which proposed an automatic method for generating annotations for depth-based hand segmentation.[2]
Malireddi co-founded Moss in 2024 alongside Harsha Nalluru. The company is headquartered in San Mateo, California, and had three employees as of late 2025. Moss builds a search runtime designed for voice agents, AI copilots, and chat interfaces, enabling sub-10 millisecond semantic retrieval. The system is built in Rust and WebAssembly, and runs natively across browsers, mobile devices, and servers.[3]
The company addresses a latency problem common in conversational AI: the delay introduced when an AI agent must retrieve contextual information from external databases during a live interaction. Moss reduces this delay by keeping retrieval close to where the agent runs, rather than routing queries across networks. According to the company, this approach achieves sub-10 ms retrieval and 70–90% token savings compared to traditional approaches.
Moss's product is used by over 500 teams, with customers and users at organizations including Grammarly, HubSpot, Microsoft, EPAM Systems, Zomato, Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, and University of California, Davis. The company categorizes itself within the developer tools, SaaS, and AI sectors.
In 2025, Malireddi presented a live product demo at Stripe Startups Build Day and launched Moss on Y Combinator's Launch YC platform.
