Shapol M is a British entrepreneur and aerospace engineer who is the co-founder and CEO of Entangl, a San Francisco-based startup that uses artificial intelligence to detect and resolve issues in data center engineering and operations. Entangl was part of the Y Combinator Summer 2024 batch.[1]

Early life and education

Shapol M attended Imperial College London, where he studied aerospace engineering. During his time at Imperial, he was involved with the Karman Space Programme, a student-led initiative that aimed to build and launch a reusable rocket to an altitude of 100 kilometres. The programme attracted international media attention in 2022 and 2023 for its test launches and attempted space launch from the Mojave Desert in California.

Career

Prior to founding Entangl, Shapol M co-founded a company called KRUIZ. Drawing on his background in aerospace engineering, he went on to co-found Entangl in 2024 alongside Antanas Zilinskas, another aerospace engineer. The company is headquartered in San Francisco.

Entangl was created to address problems the founders had observed in engineering design processes, particularly the challenges of cross-team design reviews. Engineering teams often work in silos, and errors that arise from design changes can go undetected during reviews, sometimes leading to costly manufacturing defects or operational failures. The company initially focused on autonomously identifying design problems across engineering projects by scanning knowledge bases such as GitHub, Google Drive, and OneDrive.

The company subsequently pivoted its focus toward data center infrastructure, developing an AI platform that helps detect and automatically resolve issues in data center engineering and operations. According to the company, its platform is used to ensure efficiency and uptime at facilities that support critical global infrastructure, including data centers used by AI research laboratories. Entangl states that over 90 percent of the world's derivatives trading relies on data centers the company helps operate.[2]

Entangl is backed by Y Combinator, with Tom Blomfield serving as group partner. The company has also received support from individuals associated with Nvidia, Cloudflare, AMD, and Hugging Face, as well as a co-author of the influential "Attention Is All You Need" research paper.

Shapol M is based in London, England, though the company operates out of San Francisco.
