Scott Laney is an American executive career advisor and former medical and diagnostics sales executive based in Boise, Idaho. He works with directors, vice presidents, and C-suite professionals on positioning, personal branding, and executive job searches. Before moving into career advising, Laney spent more than fifteen years in medical device and clinical laboratory sales, and he owned a medical distributorship focused on clinical reference-laboratory testing.[1]

Career
Medical device and diagnostics sales
Laney began his career in medical device sales at Stryker, representing the company's spine and biologics product lines to neurosurgeons, orthopedic spine surgeons, and other specialists. His responsibilities included hospital contract negotiation and the introduction of ancillary surgical product lines.[1]
He later moved into clinical laboratory sales, managing territory for diagnostics laboratories focused on toxicology and pharmacogenetics testing, a period that included work with Millennium Health.[1]
Aphelion Medical
Laney owned and operated Aphelion Medical, a medical distributorship that represented high-throughput clinical reference laboratories specializing in toxicology, pharmacogenetics, and infectious-disease testing.[1]
Career advising
Laney later transitioned from medical sales into executive career advising, working with senior professionals on their job searches. He has served as a senior advisor at The Ambitious Exec and as Director of Enrollment at Executive Career Upgrades, firms that provide career consulting and job-search support to director-, vice-president-, and executive-level clients.[1][2]
