Sam Monga is an American software engineer and entrepreneur who is a co-founder of Autumn Labs, a San Francisco-based startup that provides real-time monitoring and control software for industrial robots and factory equipment. The company, often described as "Datadog for industrial robots," participated in Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch.[1]

Career

Before co-founding Autumn Labs, Monga accumulated several years of experience in hardware and software engineering roles across the technology industry. He began his career as an electrical engineer intern at Oculus VR in 2015, subsequently working as a hardware engineer at the company from 2016 to 2019. He then joined Zoox, the autonomous vehicle company, as a hardware integration engineer from 2019 to 2020. Monga went on to work at Meta, first as a hardware engineer in 2020 and then as a senior software engineer from 2020 to 2023.

In 2023, Monga co-founded Autumn Labs alongside Prathik Muppidi and Harsh Bhatt. The company develops a developer-friendly platform designed to monitor and manage modern manufacturing lines. The platform integrates with robotic stations, automated test stations, robotic assembly cells, and industrial arms to provide full traceability, live data monitoring, and secure data transport. The system enables engineers and manufacturers to identify and resolve quality, throughput, and downtime issues, with the company stating its tools can address such problems significantly faster than conventional methods.[2]

Autumn Labs was founded in 2023 and is headquartered in San Francisco. The company participated in Y Combinator's Summer 2024 (S24) batch and operates in the hardware, robotic process automation, SaaS, robotics, and manufacturing sectors. Investors in the company include Y Combinator, The MBA Fund, Contour Venture Partners, Phoenix Investment Club, and SurgePoint Capital. As of its YC listing, the company had three employees.

Monga is based in the Los Gatos, California, area.
