Sachin Sridhar is an Indian software engineer and entrepreneur who is the co-founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of Subtrace, a zero-code network tracing tool for production infrastructure. Subtrace was part of Y Combinator's Winter 2025 (W25) batch and is based in San Francisco, California.[1]

Education and early career

Sridhar studied computer science at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, one of India's premier engineering institutions. Following his graduation, he joined Microsoft as a software engineer, where he contributed to Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, two products within Microsoft's business intelligence and data analytics ecosystem.[2]

Subtrace

Sridhar co-founded Subtrace in 2024 alongside Adhityaa Chandrasekar, who serves as chief executive officer (CEO). The company builds a zero-code network monitoring tool designed for backend engineering teams, enabling them to observe every HTTP request entering and leaving their production infrastructure in real time, without requiring code changes or elevated root privileges.[3]

The company describes the product as functioning like a browser's "inspect element" developer tool, but applied to an entire server infrastructure. Under the hood, Subtrace uses Berkeley Packet Filter (BPF) technology to intercept and display network traffic at the kernel level. The tool is largely written in Go and can be deployed with a single command across all major programming languages and frameworks, requiring no instrumentation of application code.[4]

The Subtrace interface consolidates request details such as payload content, latency, HTTP status codes, headers, and logs into a single view, enabling developers to debug production issues without switching between multiple observability tools. The project attracted open-source interest following its public release, accumulating approximately 2,700 GitHub stars as of early 2025.[5]

Funding

In March 2025, Subtrace raised a $500,000 seed round with participation from Y Combinator and investor Kevin Lin.[6] At the time of the funding announcement, the company consisted of two full-time employees — Sridhar and Chandrasekar. Subtrace serves business-to-business (B2B) customers, with reported signups from engineering teams across multiple organizations.
