Ryan Tremblay is an American entrepreneur and software engineer who is the co-founder and self-described "Chief ML Alchemist" of Sonauto, an artificial intelligence music creation platform. Sonauto was part of the Y Combinator Winter 2024 batch.[1]
Career
Tremblay holds dual degrees in Computer Science and History from Cornell University. Prior to founding Sonauto, he held engineering positions at several technology companies, including Vocode, Koji, and The Glimpse Group. From 2019 to 2023, he founded and led ReLearn, a project focused on education technology.
Tremblay co-founded Sonauto in 2023. The company describes itself as an "AI music editor" that transforms text prompts, lyrics, or melodies into complete songs in a variety of musical styles. According to the company's website, users can create original songs in minutes — for example, generating a personalized birthday song performed in the style of a well-known artist. The platform is designed to make music creation accessible to users regardless of their musical training or technical skill level.[2]
Sonauto participated in Y Combinator's Winter 2024 cohort. The company is based in San Francisco, California, and has approximately four employees. Tremblay's technical expertise includes machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, diffusion models, Python, Swift, and Java.
The Sonauto platform features a social component, allowing users to create and share playlists of AI-generated songs. The company operates in the consumer content space, positioning itself at the intersection of generative AI and music production.
