Rebecca Rowe is an ecologist and associate professor in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of New Hampshire in Durham.[1] Her research addresses mammal population dynamics, small mammal community composition, and ecosystem responses to environmental change in Arctic and northeastern United States ecosystems.[2]
Education
Rowe attended Bowdoin College from 1993 to 1997, where she studied biology and anthropology.[3] She later attended the University of Chicago from 2000 to 2006 as part of the Committee on Evolutionary Biology.[4]
Career
Rowe has served as an associate professor in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of New Hampshire since 2011.[5]
Research
Rowe's published work includes studies on small mammal population dynamics in northeastern hardwood forests, mammal diversity and wetland management effects at Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge in Utah, and tundra vole diet variability in northern Alaska.[6] She has also contributed to research on Arctic tundra carbon dynamics and to methodological work assessing the accuracy of BirdNET acoustic identification for bird community composition studies.[7]
According to Semantic Scholar, her published work totals seven papers with 15 citations and an h-index of 2.[8]
Rowe has received two grants from the National Science Foundation totaling $1,019,111. The first, awarded May 14, 2015, supported collaborative research linking biotic interactions and environmental change to range dynamics of montane mammals over the past century, in the amount of $421,841.[9] The second, awarded July 13, 2016, supported collaborative research on herbivore impacts on carbon cycling in northern Alaska, combining observational, experimental, and modeling approaches, in the amount of $597,270.[10] Both awards were administered through the University of New Hampshire.[11]
