Reader Wang is an American entrepreneur and engineer who is the co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Propaya, a San Francisco-based technology startup that uses artificial intelligence to automate commercial lease abstraction and review. Propaya was part of the Y Combinator Summer 2024 batch.[1]

Career

Prior to founding Propaya, Wang worked as an engineer at SpaceX, where he held several roles. He served as an associate engineer in 2022, a Starship avionics systems associate engineer in 2023, and subsequently as a Dragon integration, test, and launch engineer beginning in 2024. Wang was also involved in collegiate aerospace engineering activities through M-Fly Aero Design, where he served as a test pilot (radio control) from 2018 to 2022, advanced class aircraft chief engineer from 2020 to 2021, and internal vice president from 2021 to 2022. Additionally, Wang has served as a property manager at American-Sino Sun-leader Ltd. since 2019.

Wang co-founded Propaya in 2024 alongside Jake Golas, who serves as the company's chief technology officer (CTO). The company is based in San Francisco and Wang is based in Stanford, California.

Propaya's core product uses AI to analyze and abstract commercial leases, a process that traditionally requires significant manual effort by brokers, heads of real estate, and attorneys. Users upload a lease document in PDF format, and the platform extracts key data points, delivers clause-cited insights, identifies linked schedules, and produces export-ready data. According to the company, the process that previously took hours can be completed in minutes.[2]

Beyond lease abstraction, Propaya provides market benchmarks and deal evaluation tools intended to help commercial real estate professionals negotiate more effectively. The company reports having abstracted over 10,000 leases and saved more than 100,000 hours for its users. Its clients include firms in investment, brokerage, property management, and data center operations, with reported customers including Colliers and Keller Williams Commercial.

The company operates in the property technology (proptech) sector, at the intersection of artificial intelligence and commercial real estate.
