Rakesh Goyal is an Indian-American technology entrepreneur and the CEO and co-founder of Velt, a software development company that provides a collaboration SDK enabling other companies to add real-time multiplayer features to their products. Velt participated in Y Combinator's Winter 2022 batch.[1]
Career
Before founding Velt, Goyal worked at Google as a Product Manager in Augmented Reality for approximately nine years, where he was involved in launching products such as augmented reality features in Google Search and Google Maps.[2]
Goyal co-founded Velt, originally known as Snippyly, with the stated mission of making the web more collaborative. The company is based in San Francisco, California, and has between 11 and 50 employees.[3]
Velt's primary product is a JavaScript SDK — a set of pre-built development components — that allows software companies to integrate collaborative features into their own applications. These features include contextual commenting, notifications, screen recordings, multiplayer editing, and live audio/video huddles. The product is designed to reduce the time required to build such collaboration functionality from months to days, allowing development teams to focus on their core product rather than building collaboration infrastructure from scratch.[4]
The company also offers an enterprise tier with self-hosting options, compliance tools, advanced encryption, and access controls. Velt positions itself as a tool for B2B software companies seeking to replicate the kind of real-time collaboration found in products like Figma and Google Docs.
In addition to the core SDK, Velt operates a related product called Superflow, a JavaScript plugin that enables product, marketing, and design teams to comment and collaborate directly on live websites, intended to accelerate iteration and shipping workflows.
According to the company, more than half of work hours are typically spent on coordination and communication rather than productive work, and Velt aims to reduce time spent on such logistical overhead by over 90 percent.
Goyal has described the Velt team as composed of former Google employees.[5]
