Racquel Chevremont (born June 25, 1971) is an American art curator, collector, advisor, model, and television personality based in New York City. Over the course of more than a decade, Chevremont has built a career in the contemporary art world through curating exhibitions at galleries and institutions, advising private collectors, and advocating for the visibility of Black artists and artists of color. Her curatorial projects have been presented at venues including Venus Over Manhattan, Parrish Art Museum, Pioneer Works, and Yancey Richardson Gallery. Beyond the art world, Chevremont gained broader public recognition when she joined the cast of the fifteenth season of The Real Housewives of New York City as its first openly LGBTQ+ cast member. She has also contributed to the representation of Black art in popular media, serving as an art consultant for the HBO series And Just Like That..., where she curated the fictional art collection of the character Lisa Todd Wexley. Before entering the art world full-time, Chevremont had a modeling career that spanned several decades.
Early Life
Racquel Chevremont was born on June 25, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York.[1] She grew up in the borough and has maintained deep ties to New York City throughout her professional life. Details about her parents, siblings, and childhood upbringing remain largely undocumented in public sources. Her later career trajectory — spanning fashion modeling, art curation, and television — would be rooted in the cultural milieu of New York City, where she has lived and worked for the majority of her adult life.
Career
Modeling
Before transitioning to a career in the art world, Chevremont worked as a professional model. Her modeling career extended over multiple decades. In 2024, she was featured in coverage by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser discussing models who continue to work past the age of 40, reflecting her longevity in the fashion industry.[2] Her background in fashion and visual culture informed her later work as an art curator and collector, providing her with an eye for aesthetics and a network within the creative industries.
Art Curation and Advisory
Chevremont established herself as a contemporary art curator with a focus on works by Black artists and artists of color. Her curatorial practice has emphasized themes of identity, representation, and cultural history, and she has organized exhibitions across a range of institutional and gallery settings in New York and beyond.
One of her early notable curatorial projects was her involvement with VOLTA NY in 2018, where she served in a curatorial capacity for the art fair's curated section.[3] This role placed her within the broader ecosystem of contemporary art fairs and established her reputation as a curator with a distinct curatorial vision.
In 2021, Chevremont curated Brand New Heavies, an exhibition held at Pioneer Works, the multidisciplinary cultural center in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The exhibition drew attention for its presentation of contemporary works and its engagement with themes relevant to the moment.[4]
The following year, Chevremont curated Set It Off at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York. The exhibition, which was mounted in 2022, further solidified her standing as a curator capable of working within institutional settings.[5] The Parrish Art Museum is a prominent institution on the East End of Long Island, and presenting a curated show there represented a significant platform for Chevremont's work.
In 2023, Chevremont curated This Too Shall Pass at Venus Over Manhattan, a gallery in New York City. The exhibition was a still-life-themed group show and was documented in Document Journal, which profiled Chevremont and her curatorial approach to the project.[6][7] The show received attention for its engagement with the still-life genre through a contemporary lens and its inclusion of diverse artists.
Chevremont also curated Mining the Archive at Yancey Richardson Gallery, another exhibition that demonstrated her interest in the intersection of historical and contemporary artistic practices.[8]
In addition to her gallery and institutional exhibitions, Chevremont has worked as an art advisor, guiding private collectors in building and refining their collections. Her advisory work has particularly focused on helping collectors acquire works by underrepresented artists.
And Just Like That...
Chevremont extended her influence into popular media through her work as an art consultant for the HBO series And Just Like That..., the sequel series to Sex and the City. She was responsible for curating the fictional art collection belonging to the character Lisa Todd Wexley, played by Nicole Ari Parker. In a 2025 interview with ARTnews, Chevremont discussed her approach to the role, describing how she sought to represent "Black excellence" through the art selections displayed on screen.[9] Her involvement in the series brought contemporary art by Black artists to a mainstream television audience, representing a notable intersection of the art world and popular culture.
Tribeca Festival Art Awards
Chevremont was involved with the Tribeca Festival's artist awards program. In 2022, the Tribeca Festival and Chanel announced a collaborative artist awards initiative, in which Chevremont participated.[10] She continued her involvement with the Tribeca Art Awards program in subsequent years, including in 2023.[11][12] Her participation in the program underscored her role as a connector between the art world and other cultural industries, including film and media.
The Real Housewives of New York City
In 2024, Chevremont was announced as a cast member of the fifteenth season of Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York City. Her casting was notable as she became the first openly LGBTQ+ member of the RHONY franchise.[1] The Wrap profiled Chevremont upon the announcement of her casting, highlighting her background as an art curator, collector, and former model.[13]
On the show, Chevremont's storylines touched on her work in the art world, her personal relationships, and her life in New York City. Her appearance on the series introduced her to a significantly broader audience beyond the art and fashion industries. During the airing of the season, she debuted a large engagement ring, a moment that attracted attention from both viewers and her costars.[14]
Personal Life
Chevremont has been open about her identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and her personal relationships have been documented in public media sources.
From 2011 to 2020, Chevremont was in a relationship with Mickalene Thomas, a contemporary artist known for her large-scale paintings and mixed-media works. The couple's relationship and shared involvement in the art world were profiled by The New York Times in 2019.[15] A conversation between Thomas and Chevremont was also featured on the Master & Dynamic website, where the two discussed their creative lives and partnership.[16] The relationship ended in 2020, and in subsequent years, legal disputes emerged between the two (see below).
Since 2022, Chevremont has been in a relationship with Melissa Corpus. The couple was profiled by Vogue in an "I Want What They Have" feature, in which they discussed their relationship and life together.[17]
Legal Proceedings
In August 2025, Chevremont filed a lawsuit against her former fiancée and business partner Mickalene Thomas, initially seeking $10 million in damages. The suit alleged exploitation, nonpayment for curatorial and advisory work, sexual harassment, and a "hostile" and "abusive" work environment during their professional and personal partnership.[18][19] The lawsuit was reported by multiple outlets, including Artnet News, which described the allegations in the context of the art world.[20] Them also reported on the suit, noting the allegations of a hostile work environment and sexual harassment.[21]
By October 2025, the lawsuit had been expanded to $14 million. Page Six reported that Chevremont accused Thomas of exploitation and abuse in the updated filing.[22] Hyperallergic reported on the expanded suit, noting allegations of withheld payments, sexual and emotional abuse.[23][24] As of late 2025, the case remained ongoing.
A separate earlier legal matter, Baylor, Corey v. Chevremont, Racquel, appeared in court records, though details of that case are limited in public sources.[25]
Recognition
Chevremont's curatorial work has received attention from major art world publications and mainstream media alike. Her exhibitions at institutions such as the Parrish Art Museum, Pioneer Works, and Venus Over Manhattan have been reviewed and profiled in outlets including Document Journal, ARTnews, and Artsy. Her involvement with the Tribeca Festival's art awards program further expanded her profile across cultural disciplines.
Her casting on The Real Housewives of New York City brought her to a broader audience and was covered by entertainment publications including Us Magazine, The Wrap, and People. As the first openly LGBTQ+ cast member on the RHONY franchise, her participation represented a notable moment of visibility for the LGBTQ+ community within the reality television genre.[1]
Her work as art consultant for And Just Like That... on HBO was recognized for bringing contemporary art by Black artists into mainstream television, a role that ARTnews described in a 2025 feature interview.[26] Her contributions in this space reflected a growing trend of art world professionals influencing the visual cultures depicted on screen.
Chevremont's profile in Vogue, alongside her partner Melissa Corpus, and her earlier New York Times feature alongside Mickalene Thomas, indicated the level of media attention her personal and professional lives have attracted from prominent publications.[17][15]
