Mohamed Khalifa is an Egyptian-American software engineer and entrepreneur known as the co-founder and CEO of RadMate AI, a startup that developed an artificial intelligence copilot for radiologists. The company was part of the Y Combinator Winter 2024 batch.[1]
Career
Khalifa studied Computer Science at Cornell University, where he met his co-founder Adam. Prior to founding RadMate AI, Khalifa worked at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Customer Solutions Manager, where his focus was on helping enterprise clients innovate using cloud technologies. He also worked at PathAI, a company specializing in AI-powered pathology, where he contributed to the development of their image viewer platform aimed at improving workflows for pathologists.[1]
Khalifa co-founded RadMate AI with Adam, who had previously worked at Palantir Technologies on the initial launch of Palantir's AI Platform. The impetus for founding RadMate AI came from the challenges Adam's father faced as a practicing radiologist. Both co-founders are described as technical founders.[1]
RadMate AI was designed as an AI copilot for radiologists, powered by a foundational model for medical imaging. The product's core function was to read radiology images and generate full diagnostic reports, which radiologists could then review, edit, and submit. The company operated at the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital health, software as a service (SaaS), and enterprise software, and was based in the San Francisco Bay Area.[2]
RadMate AI participated in Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch. As of its Y Combinator listing, the company is classified as inactive, and Khalifa and his co-founder are listed as former founders.[1]
