Max Junestrand is a Swedish entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of Legora, an artificial intelligence company that develops a collaborative AI workspace for lawyers and law firms. Junestrand co-founded Legora in 2023, and the company participated in Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch.[1]
Career
Junestrand has described his background as an engineer who transitioned into entrepreneurship.[2] In 2023, he co-founded Legora with the aim of building AI-powered tools for legal professionals. In the company's early stages, Junestrand cold-messaged lawyers to secure meetings and gain an understanding of the industry's needs.[3]
Legora provides a platform that enables lawyers to automate repetitive tasks, conduct legal research across public sources and internal documents, draft and review legal documents, and collaborate within a unified workspace. The platform integrates with document management systems such as iManage and SharePoint and offers capabilities including tabular document review, a Microsoft Word add-in for drafting, and access to legal databases across multiple jurisdictions.[4] Legora's product suite serves practice areas including litigation and mergers and acquisitions.
The company grew rapidly after its Y Combinator participation. In October 2025, Legora raised $150 million in funding at a valuation of $1.8 billion, with the company described as tackling routine legal work through AI.[5] In December 2025, Legora secured the international law firm White & Case as a client.[6] The company subsequently raised $550 million in a Series D round to support expansion into the United States.[7]
Junestrand has stated that he personally interviews all new hires and looks for candidates with "raw grit."[8] He was featured on the Forbes profile of notable entrepreneurs in early 2026.[9]
