Daivik Goel is a Canadian-educated software entrepreneur and the CEO and co-founder of Shor, a technology company that provides global payroll, employer of record (EOR), and contractor payment services. Shor, which participated in Y Combinator's Summer 2025 batch, positions itself as a faster and more affordable alternative to established global payroll providers such as Deel and Remote, using AI agents and stablecoin-based payments to reduce costs.[1]

Early life and education

Goel graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Computer Engineering.[2]

Career

Prior to founding Shor, Goel worked in product and engineering roles at Tesla, Cisco Meraki, and several early-stage startups. He also founded Founders Brew, a community that has connected over 2,000 founders across San Francisco, Toronto, and New York City.[2]

Goel co-founded Shor to address what he identified as high costs and slow onboarding times in the global payroll industry. The company offers employer of record services and contractor payment processing, allowing companies to hire and pay employees and contractors in multiple countries. Shor differentiates itself primarily on price and speed: the company charges a flat rate of $99 per month per global employee and $19 per month per contractor, compared to what it describes as industry-standard rates of approximately $599 and $49 respectively. The platform emphasizes transparent pricing with no hidden fees, no large upfront deposits, and no long-term contract requirements.[3]

A central feature of Shor's platform is its AI-first approach to payroll management. Rather than relying on traditional web dashboards, the service integrates directly into workplace messaging tools such as Slack, WhatsApp, and Telegram, enabling users to run and approve payroll through chat interfaces. The company claims that setup, onboarding, and payroll processing can each be completed in minutes rather than the days or weeks typical of legacy providers.

Shor was accepted into Y Combinator's Summer 2025 (S25) batch. As of early 2026, the company is based in San Francisco, California, and its global employee EOR product is listed as forthcoming, with contractor payroll services available.[4]
