Manuj Mishra is a British-Indian entrepreneur and AI researcher. He is the founder of Opine, an AI-powered consumer application that provides advice through over 100 AI personas, and the CEO and co-founder of Waffle, an AI game builder. Opine was part of the Y Combinator Spring 2025 batch.[1]
Early life and education
Mishra graduated first in his cohort in Mathematics and Computer Science at Imperial College London. He subsequently earned a Master's degree in Advanced Computer Science from the University of Oxford.[2]
Career
Mishra was the second machine learning hire at Rebellion, a defense technology company that achieved unicorn status. During this period, he gained experience in applied machine learning within the defense sector.[3]
Mishra is a published AI researcher and was first author on a paper presented at the Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence (UAI) conference in 2024.
In 2024, Mishra co-founded Opine, a consumer AI application. The platform allows users to interact with over 100 AI personas spanning categories such as technology, entertainment, relationships, lifestyle, politics, philosophy, health, finance, and religion. Users can seek advice on topics including career, relationships, and health from these AI-generated characters, which include personas modeled on public figures. Opine is available on both Android and iOS platforms.[4] The company was accepted into the Y Combinator Spring 2025 batch, where it is categorized under the consumer and AI industries.
Mishra also serves as CEO and co-founder of Waffle, an AI game builder based in San Francisco launched in 2025. Waffle enables users to create functional web applications with real backends without relying on third-party services. On his personal website, Mishra has described himself as "obsessed with generative AI, tech startups, and individuals who have had five-sigma impact on the direction of civilisation."[5] He previously worked on an AI startup building AI agents to handle administrative work in political offices.
