Lucía Vives Martorell is a Spanish entrepreneur and co-founder of YouShift, an AI-powered software platform that automates shift scheduling for hospitals. YouShift was part of Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch.[1]
Early life and education
Vives Martorell is originally from Barcelona, Spain. She studied biomedical science at University College London (UCL) and subsequently attended Harvard University as a visiting student, studying biomedical sciences from August 2022 to June 2023.[1]
Career
While at Harvard, Vives Martorell met her future co-founders, Jota Chamorro and Adolfo Roquero Gimenez. Together, the three founded YouShift, a business-to-business software-as-a-service (SaaS) company focused on healthcare workforce management. The company is headquartered in New York City.[2]
YouShift's core product uses artificial intelligence to automate hospital shift scheduling, a process traditionally handled through legacy software systems or dedicated full-time scheduling staff. The platform generates optimized schedules that account for institutional rules, coverage requirements, and individual clinician preferences. Beyond scheduling, YouShift provides operations intelligence tools offering real-time visibility into coverage gaps, workload distribution, and staffing costs, with plans to expand into capacity management features that align staffing levels with projected demand and productivity.[2]
The company describes its mission as reducing administrative burden in healthcare and improving work-life balance for clinicians. YouShift raised a $500,000 seed round in February 2025. As of early 2026, the company had approximately five employees and was actively hiring for engineering roles across the United States and Spain.[1]
YouShift operates in the health tech, HR tech, and AI sectors. The company was accepted into Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch, one of the accelerator's competitive cohorts for early-stage startups.
