Kashyap Achar is a Canadian software engineer and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Bezel, a Y Combinator (Winter 2025)-backed startup that uses generative artificial intelligence to create virtual fashion photography for e-commerce brands.[1]

Early life and education

Achar graduated from Carleton University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Computer Science.[2] During his time at Carleton, he built Workitt, a platform designed to help remote companies bring employees together through fitness challenges. He also collaborated with fellow computer science student Tobias Schlagenhaufer on a browser extension aimed at helping remote workers; the two had first met at an Ontario-wide coding competition.[3]

Career

After graduating, Achar relocated from Canada to New York City. In a LinkedIn post, he described sending 1,523 cold emails over 145 days before receiving a single job offer that enabled the move. He subsequently worked as a software engineer at Bilt Technologies, where he helped scale a credit card rewards program to over 23,000 restaurants and built a partnership with Walgreens.[4]

Achar co-founded Bezel in 2025. The company provides AI-powered tools that allow apparel brands to generate photorealistic on-model imagery without conducting traditional photo shoots. Users upload images of clothing, select from a library of AI-generated models — which can be filtered by ethnicity, age, and style — and receive high-resolution images and video suitable for e-commerce listings, social media, and marketing campaigns. According to the company's website, the platform replicates fabric textures, patterns, lighting, and shadow effects to produce results comparable to studio photography.[5]

Bezel was accepted into Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch and is based in New York. The company operates in the generative AI, machine learning, and marketing sectors, and reports that over 2,000 brands have used its platform.[6]
