Julius Hillebrand is a German entrepreneur and co-founder of Dodo, a technology company that develops AI-powered employees for specialty clinics. Dodo was part of Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch.[1]
Early life and education
Hillebrand studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at the University of Oxford, where he graduated with Double First Class Honours, placing in the top 10% of his class. During his time at Oxford, he served as External Relations Director of the Oxford Blockchain Society and as President of the Oxford University German Society. He also studied computer science at Le Wagon. He later attended Stanford University.[2]
Career
Prior to founding Dodo, Hillebrand held several professional roles. He worked as a Visiting Associate at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Planetly, and worked as an Operations Analyst at Trade Republic, a European financial services company. He also held positions in strategic partnerships at ProjectTogether and in business development and investment analysis at other organizations.
Hillebrand co-founded Dodo alongside Dominik Moehrle. The company develops AI employees designed specifically for specialty clinics, with an initial focus on veterinary practices. Dodo's AI systems are fine-tuned on industry-specific knowledge and trained on protocols drawn directly from clinic employee manuals and playbooks. The platform handles both front-office and back-office tasks autonomously, without requiring human oversight. These tasks include answering phone calls, sending medical records, and refilling prescriptions, enabling clinics to provide around-the-clock service.[3]
The company markets its product as "labor-as-a-software," positioning AI employees as a staffing solution for clinics that face challenges in hiring and retaining administrative staff. Dodo has partnered with clinics internationally and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Hillebrand is based in Stanford, California.
