Joseph Thalinjan is a French entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of RentFlow, a financial technology company that provides a "buy now, pay later" solution for commercial rent. RentFlow was part of the Y Combinator Summer 2024 batch.[1]
Career
Thalinjan studied at ESCP Business School, a European business school with campuses in several countries including France and Italy. Prior to founding RentFlow, he was involved with Mindely, an AI-powered platform designed to conduct business case and role-play interviews for recruitment purposes. Mindely attracted attention in 2024 for its use of generative AI to replace human interviewers in first-round consulting case interviews, and the company was initially accepted into Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch under that concept.
Thalinjan subsequently co-founded RentFlow in 2024 alongside Alix Maurin. The company, based in San Francisco, developed what it describes as the first "buy now, pay later" platform specifically designed for commercial rent payments.[2]
RentFlow addresses a problem affecting a significant portion of small and medium-sized businesses in the United States, where the company estimates that approximately 50% of such businesses fall behind on their rent at some point. The platform operates as a two-sided solution. For commercial landlords and property managers, RentFlow pays the full rent amount on time each month, reducing the need for collections efforts. For business tenants, the platform splits rent obligations into smaller installments that can be synchronized with revenue patterns, allowing tenants to align fixed costs with actual cash flow throughout the year.
The company's platform incorporates artificial intelligence and offers tenants the ability to choose customizable repayment schedules, including weekly installment plans. RentFlow operates in the intersection of several technology sectors, including fintech, software as a service, payments, and property technology.
As of 2025, RentFlow had three employees and was actively operating in the San Francisco Bay Area. The company has published educational content on topics related to commercial real estate, including guides on commercial lease structures and analyses of commercial rental markets across U.S. cities.
