Jolie Wormwood is an American psychologist who serves as an associate professor of psychology at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. Her research addresses psychophysiology, emotion, and affective experience, including the measurement of interoceptive sensitivity and physiological indices of stress and challenge.[1]
Career
Wormwood began working in 2018 as a Statistical Scientist at the Center for Healthcare Organization and Implementation Research (CHOIR) at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital.[2] That same year, she joined the University of New Hampshire as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, a position she held until 2024, when she was promoted to Associate Professor.[3]

According to Semantic Scholar, Wormwood has published 98 papers that have collectively been cited approximately 1,300 times, with an h-index of 20.[4] Her research includes work on methods for assessing interoceptive sensitivity through heartbeat detection, computational modeling of interpersonal trust, automated quality assessment procedures for ambulatory electrodermal activity data, and the development of open-source tools for extracting features from peripheral physiological data.[5] Other work has examined how affect influences visual perception of faces, physiological indices of challenge and threat during stress tasks, and the categorization of emotion across brain, body, and subjective experience.[6]
