Jill McGaughy is a neuroscientist at the University of New Hampshire whose research focuses on the neural basis of attention and executive function, including the effects of prenatal protein malnutrition and noradrenergic systems on cognitive performance in rodent models.[1]
Research
McGaughy's published work centers on the role of the prefrontal cortex and noradrenergic signaling in attention and executive function. Her studies have examined how prenatal protein malnutrition alters neurotransmitter concentrations, including norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin, in the prefrontal cortex of adult rats, and how these changes relate to attentional deficits.[2][3] Other work has investigated corticopetal noradrenergic systems and their contribution to the development of executive function, as well as the effects of developmental exposure to sevoflurane anesthesia on attention in adulthood.[4][5]
