Jason Simon is an academic in mechanical engineering at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire.[1] His published research has addressed the representation of subgrid surface heterogeneity in atmospheric circulation models and its effects on turbulence and cloud formation.[2]
Education
Simon received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2009, followed by a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the same institution in 2011.[3] He earned a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2019.[4]
Career
From 2019 to 2022, Simon was a Postdoctoral Associate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Duke University.[5] He then served as Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Engineering in the Mathematics department at Saint Augustine's University from 2022 to 2023.[6] In 2024, he joined the University of New Hampshire as a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering.[7]

According to Semantic Scholar, Simon has an h-index of 3 based on three tracked publications with a combined total of 16 citations.[8] His work published in 2024 examined a two-column model parameterization for subgrid surface heterogeneity, the atmospheric response to such heterogeneity in the Community Earth System Model, and statistical insights from large-eddy simulation cases on heterogeneous land-surface effects on turbulent kinetic energy and cloud formation.[9]
