Jared Talbot is an American biologist and Assistant Professor in the School of Biology and Ecology at the University of Maine.[1] His research addresses muscle development, motoneuron biology, and pharyngeal skeletal patterning, largely using zebrafish as a model organism.[2]
Education
Talbot received a B.Sc. from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University, where he studied from 2000 to 2004.[3] He then earned a Ph.D. from the Institute of Neuroscience at the University of Oregon, completing the degree in 2011 after beginning in 2004.[4]
Career
Talbot joined the University of Maine in 2019 as an Assistant Professor in the School of Biology and Ecology.[5]
Research
Talbot's publication record, indexed by Semantic Scholar, comprises 25 papers with a combined total of 977 citations and an h-index of 15.[6] His work has examined skeletal muscle fiber type biology, pharyngeal arch patterning through hand2 and Dlx genes, satellite cell contributions to muscle repair in adult zebrafish, and the roles of HuD and the survival motor neuron protein in motoneuron development.[7]
He has received funding from the National Institutes of Health for a project titled "Motility and Guidance Signals Control Migration of Muscle Precursors," administered through the University of Maine Orono. Records show three award instances of this project totaling $815,789, as part of five NIH-funded projects associated with Talbot totaling $1,508,733.[8]
