Jamie Abaied is a psychologist at the University of Vermont, where she has been a member of the Department of Psychological Science since 2010.[1] Her research addresses youth depression, peer stress, and the socialization of racial ideology by parents.[2]

Education

Abaied received her PhD in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, completing her studies between 2004 and 2010.[3]

Career

Abaied joined the University of Vermont's Department of Psychological Science in 2010.[4]

Research

According to Semantic Scholar, Abaied has published 41 papers that have collectively been cited 1,281 times, giving her an h-index of 19.[5] Her work has examined interpersonal theories of youth depression, stress generation as a mechanism of depression continuity in girls, parental socialization of coping in response to youth stress, and children's responses to peer aggression.[6] More recent work has focused on the socialization of racial ideology by white parents, including how bias awareness predicts color-conscious racial socialization methods and how white parents discuss current events involving racism with their adolescents.[7]
