Career
Malik founded Uplift AI to address the gap in high-quality speech synthesis and voice technology for regional languages spoken by large populations worldwide. The company builds voice models for languages such as Urdu, Sindhi, Balochi, and Bengali, and makes them available to developers through APIs and SDKs. Developers use these tools to create voice-first digital experiences, including voice-based e-commerce, banking, and AI tutoring applications.[2]
The company's flagship product is a family of AI models called Orator, which are designed to produce human-like speech in Pakistani languages. According to the company, Orator outperforms competing offerings from OpenAI, ElevenLabs, and Microsoft in user preference evaluations for these languages, while being significantly more cost-effective. As of 2025, Orator supports Urdu, Sindhi, and Balochi, with Punjabi and Saraiki models announced for future release.[3]
Uplift AI operates with a vertically integrated approach: the company gathers its own data, develops proprietary labelling tools, trains its own models, and designs its own voice infrastructure.
