Frank Macreery is an American software engineer and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of Aptible, a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) company that provides cloud infrastructure with built-in security, compliance, and reliability features for businesses with enterprise requirements.[1]

Early life and education

Macreery attended Princeton University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) in Computer Science in 2006.[2] While at Princeton, he was a competitive distance runner on the men's track and field and cross country teams. In 2006, he earned All-America honors after finishing tenth in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Championships in Sacramento.[3] He also finished seventh in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA East Regional earlier that year.[4]

Career

Before founding Aptible, Macreery held several engineering roles in the technology industry. He worked as a software engineer at Give Real (2008–2009), then served as Director of Engineering at XGraph (2009–2011), a company later acquired by Clearspring/AddThis. From 2011 to 2013, he was a senior software engineer at Artsy.[5]

In October 2013, Macreery co-founded Aptible, initially serving as co-founder and CTO. The company developed a cloud platform that enables organizations to deploy applications in Docker containers across a wide range of languages and frameworks while meeting enterprise requirements for security, compliance, and reliability. Aptible offered features including a guaranteed 99.95% uptime, flexible hosting options including self-hosting within a customer's own AWS environment, and integrations with common engineering tools.[6] In July 2021, Macreery assumed the additional role of CEO.[7]

In November 2025, hybrid cloud provider Opti9 Technologies acquired Aptible, with the stated goal of expanding its managed cloud services, application modernization, and compliance capabilities.[8]
