Dylan Allen-Arnegård is an American entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of Cheers, a technology company that helps local service businesses optimize their visibility in AI-powered search tools such as ChatGPT. The company participated in Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch.[1]
Career
Allen-Arnegård has a background in artificial intelligence and data science, with professional experience that includes roles in data science leadership. Prior to founding Cheers, he was involved in the Brigham Young University (BYU) Sandbox Program, where he served as a teaching assistant while developing an early startup concept centered on review-gathering software.
Allen-Arnegård founded Cheers to address a shift in how consumers discover local businesses. As AI assistants such as ChatGPT increasingly serve as alternatives to traditional search engines for local recommendations, Cheers positions itself as a full-stack platform for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) — a term describing the practice of optimizing a business's presence in AI-generated responses rather than conventional search engine results.[2]
The Cheers platform audits a business's AI visibility, builds optimization plans that include schema markup, citation corrections, and review strategy, and provides frontline employees with NFC-based tools to solicit customer reviews with employee-level attribution. According to the company, its client Vivint generated over 70,000 five-star reviews in five months using the platform and achieved top rankings on both ChatGPT and Google Search across its markets.[1]
As of its public metrics, Cheers reports more than 200,000 reviews generated, over 1,000 locations served, and more than 10,000 employees activated on its platform.[2]
The company is based in San Francisco, California, and operates in the analytics, AI, reviews, and feedback sectors. In November 2024, Allen-Arnegård noted on social media that the financial technology company Brex featured Cheers on a billboard in Times Square, describing the recognition as a milestone for the company's growth since its early days of prototyping hardware in a garage.
