Doug Passon is an American criminal defense lawyer with nearly 30 years of practice in state and federal court, nationally known for his work in sentencing advocacy and mitigation. He has represented clients in high-profile white-collar cases and is recognised for the use of documentary film technique in sentencing mitigation.[1]

Sentencing Advocacy

Passon's practice centres on the sentencing phase of federal cases: how the guidelines are calculated, how judges actually apply them, and what defence counsel and defendants can do to argue for a more just sentence. His work covers the role of mitigation specialists, character letters and the sentencing memorandum.[1]

Passon presented to the White Collar Support Group's Tuesday Night Speaker Series on December 9, 2025.[1]
