David Sanger is a behavioural pharmacologist affiliated with the University of Maine. His work has focused on the pharmacology of impulse control, sleep and arousal disorders, and the neurobiological mechanisms underlying antipsychotic and psychotropic drug action.
Research
Sanger's published work spans behavioural pharmacology, with particular attention to impulse control, hippocampal function, and neurodegeneration.[1] According to Semantic Scholar, he has authored 214 papers that have collectively been cited 6,672 times, giving him an h-index of 44.[2]
His research addressed the pharmacology and mechanisms of action of atypical antipsychotic drugs, including their dopaminergic and non-dopaminergic effects.[3] He also examined the discriminative stimulus effects of phencyclidine and its interaction with N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors, a study published in Psychopharmacology that has been cited 20 times.[4] Another frequently cited contribution examined new perspectives for treating disorders of sleep and arousal, published in Annales Pharmaceutiques Françaises and cited 13 times.[5]
