Daniel Gibbon is an Australian entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of Edexia, an artificial intelligence-powered grading and feedback platform for educators. The company, which participated in Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch, uses AI to help teachers assess student work across a variety of curricula, including IB and AP programs.[1]
Career
Before founding Edexia, Gibbon was the founder and CEO of 99 Plus Tutoring, a tutoring company he ran from January 2022 to November 2024. In that role, he developed specialised tutoring programs and technology platforms for students.
Gibbon co-founded Edexia with Nathan Wang in June 2023. The platform is designed to learn each teacher's individual grading style, enabling consistent and pedagogically aligned feedback on student essays and assessments. A key feature of the product is that it keeps the teacher in control of the grading process rather than replacing their judgment. Edexia integrates with major learning management systems such as Google Classroom, allowing educators to incorporate the tool into existing workflows. The platform also provides analytics and insights for teachers and administrators to monitor student learning outcomes.
Gibbon participated in programs at The University of Queensland, including UQ Ventures and the UQIES entrepreneurship programs, prior to founding Edexia.[2] He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Software Engineering from The University of Queensland.
In November 2024, Edexia was accepted into Y Combinator's Winter 2025 cohort, relocating to San Francisco for the program.[3] In early 2025, the company raised a US$4 million seed round from investors including the founders of ClassDojo and Clever, as well as Y Combinator co-founder Paul Graham.
As of 2025, Edexia works with schools across the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. The company's leadership team includes co-founder and CTO Nathan Wang and chief operating officer Kyel Steensma. In April 2026, Gibbon presented Edexia at the ASU+GSV Summit as part of the GSV Cup, a showcase of K-12 education technology innovators.
