Brendan Agliardo is an American entrepreneur and co-founder of Quetzal, a software company that provides LLM-powered translation and internationalization tools for software applications. Quetzal was part of the Y Combinator Summer 2024 batch.[1]
Early life
Agliardo attended Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, Connecticut, where he appeared on the honor roll during the 2012–2013 academic year.
Career
Agliardo co-founded Quetzal in 2024 alongside John Thompson. The company, based in Oakland, California, develops an LLM-first translation and internationalization suite designed to help software companies translate and localize their products quickly. Quetzal's platform enables companies to internationalize their software and content with minimal setup, replacing workflows that traditionally required days or weeks of waiting for translated content.[2]
The Quetzal platform uses artificial intelligence to translate user-facing text while taking into account the context of the application. The product includes a Visual Studio Code extension that identifies user-facing strings in a codebase, a dashboard for managing translations across multiple locales, and support for over 20 languages. It is compatible with Next.js and React frameworks. The system automatically detects new strings on each build and translates them, and it detects the user's browser locale to serve the appropriate language.[2]
Quetzal operates under the legal name Quetzal Labs. The company offers a tiered pricing model, including a free starter plan for individual use and a business plan for larger teams. The product has been described as "Stripe for internationalization" on Product Hunt, where it was featured in October 2024.
The company operates in the artificial intelligence, SaaS, and enterprise software sectors.[1]
