Ashley Mo is an American entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of Liva AI, a company that collects and licenses targeted audio and video training data for research teams building voice and speech models. The company was part of the Y Combinator Summer 2025 batch.[1]
Career
Mo co-founded Liva AI, which operates as a B2B data marketplace focused on providing naturally occurring, rights-cleared human audio and video data to model labs and research teams. The company addresses a gap in AI development: speech and video models trained primarily on internet-sourced data often lack realistic and domain-specific results. Liva AI's solution involves collecting targeted training data designed to make voice AI sound more natural and human.[2]
The company's catalog includes over 60 datasets spanning more than 20 languages and a range of emotional registers. These datasets cover diverse categories such as Japanese medical and business conversations, multilingual group discussions in languages including Swahili, Hindi, Tagalog, and Algerian Arabic, as well as English emotional casual conversation and audio-visual casual speaking data. Liva AI offers both off-the-shelf datasets, which can be made available within days of licensing, and custom data collection tailored to a client's specific research needs.[3]
The company operates in the artificial intelligence, big data, data labeling, and marketplace sectors and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.[4]
Prior to founding Liva AI, Mo showed an early interest in entrepreneurship. She authored content on the subject of starting businesses while in college, contributing to discussions about advice for first-time college entrepreneurs.[5]
