Anton Otaner is a technology entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of Clarum, a financial technology company that builds artificial intelligence agents to automate due diligence, monitoring, and reporting for private market investors. Clarum participated in the Y Combinator Winter 2024 batch and is based in San Francisco.[1]
Career
Prior to founding Clarum, Otaner worked as a blockchain engineer at Mint, where he focused on scalable infrastructure solutions. He also led augmented reality product development at EPHAS, a startup within the Ericsson One program.[2]
Otaner co-founded Clarum in 2023 alongside Tommy He. The company was accepted into Y Combinator's Winter 2024 cohort. Clarum develops AI agents designed to serve private equity firms, venture capital funds, family offices, and fund-of-funds teams by automating investment workflows that have traditionally relied on manual processes.[3]
The Clarum platform allows users to upload documents from data rooms, after which its AI agents extract structured data, identify potential red flags, and generate responses to due diligence questionnaires. The system is designed to learn how each individual firm operates and adapt to its specific checklists, templates, and scoring models. Clarum also functions as a self-updating knowledge base, connecting information across all documents a firm has processed over time.[4]
The company's technology stack includes Next.js, React, Python FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Platform. Clarum places emphasis on interpretability and transparency of AI-generated outputs, reflecting the auditing requirements of the financial industry. The platform is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, with end-to-end encryption, and the company states that client data is not used to train its models.[5]
Clarum's clients include investment firms such as Stone Garden Group, Blue Ocean Capital Advisors, JB46, and Mosaic Advisors. Outside of his professional work, Otaner is a marathon runner.
