Anila Sajja is an American television personality and entrepreneur who became a household name on the Bravo reality series Married to Medicine. She joined the show's cast in season eight and remained a main cast member through season nine before departing ahead of season ten. The $3 million custom-built home she completed in Atlanta became a major storyline, as did a highly publicized burglary that dominated season nine's narrative. She's since made guest appearances in seasons ten and eleven.
Married to Medicine premiered in 2013. The show follows the personal and professional lives of women connected to Atlanta's medical community. Some are physicians themselves; others are married to doctors. When Sajja joined the cast, she brought new energy to the series, though her tenure involved both personal triumphs and significant interpersonal tensions. Her exit was confirmed in March 2023, alongside Dr. Contessa Metcalfe, ahead of season ten production.
Career
Married to Medicine
Sajja became a full-time cast member beginning in season eight. For two seasons, she established herself as a notable presence on the show, which documents the lives of Atlanta women connected to medicine, whether as practicing physicians or spouses of doctors.[1]
Her most significant storyline centered on the construction and completion of what she called "The Sajja Estate." Two years of building. An estimated $3 million. Finally, in 2021, she and her family moved into the six-bedroom residence, which featured gold accents and personalized design elements throughout.[2] In October 2022, Bravo released a video tour showcasing the property's interior design and all six bedrooms.[3]
Home Burglary
During filming of season nine, Sajja's home was burglarized. The incident became a major storyline on the show. Speaking with TODAY, she called it "one of the scariest moments" of her life and described the experience as deeply traumatizing. The break-in left her feeling like the house "wasn't my house anymore," and she had to work hard to reclaim a sense of safety in her own space.[4]
Not everyone believed her. Some co-stars speculated the robbery was staged. Quad Webb informed Sajja directly that other women on the show were questioning whether she'd orchestrated the home invasion.[5] Toya Bush-Harris addressed the allegations in Entertainment Tonight, responding to the robbery setup speculation as part of broader season nine tensions involving her own finances and marriage.[6] The burglary controversy and the accusations from fellow cast members defined much of the season's narrative.
Departure from Married to Medicine
Sajja and Dr. Contessa Metcalfe exited the show ahead of season ten, according to Entertainment Tonight in March 2023. Neither would be returning as a full-time cast member.[7]
Still, she didn't disappear entirely from the franchise. Sajja returned in a guest capacity for both seasons ten and eleven of the show.[8]
Personal Life
Sajja lives in the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area with her family and two children.[7] The custom-built home she moved into in 2021 became a focal point during her time on Married to Medicine. It cost approximately $3 million and took two years to construct. With six bedrooms and recurring features in Bravo's promotional materials, the property remained a topic of conversation throughout her tenure on the show.[9]
The burglary during season nine had profound personal consequences. In her TODAY interview, she revealed how the incident left her feeling displaced in her own home and described the emotional weight it placed on her family. She spoke openly about the long process of recovering from the trauma and working to restore normalcy in her household.[10]
