Allison Anacker is a behavioral neuroscientist who serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychological Science at the University of Vermont.[1] Her research has focused on the neurobiology of social behavior, including the roles of serotonin and oxytocin systems in social affiliation, dominance, and stress in rodent models.[2]

Education

Anacker earned a PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience from Oregon Health & Science University, completing her degree between 2007 and 2012.[3]

Career

Since 2019, Anacker has held the position of Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychological Science at the University of Vermont.[4]

Research

According to Semantic Scholar, Anacker has authored 22 papers that have collectively been cited 1,236 times, giving her an h-index of 15.[5] Her work has examined the serotonin transporter's influence on placental and fetal forebrain serotonin levels and neurodevelopment, the role of oxytocin and vasopressin V1a receptors in social affiliation among meadow voles, dominance relationships and alcohol drinking in prairie voles, and the serotonin system's relevance to autism spectrum disorder.[6]

Anacker received National Institutes of Health funding for two related projects titled "Socially-facilitated excessive alcohol drinking in a novel prairie vole model," awarded through Oregon Health & Science University, totaling $83,612.[7]
