Alex Pedersen is an American software engineer and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of Egress Health, a startup that builds artificial intelligence agents to automate revenue cycle management for healthcare providers, beginning with dental offices. Egress Health was part of the Y Combinator Winter 2025 batch.[1]

Career

Prior to founding Egress Health, Pedersen worked as a software engineer at Microsoft. He subsequently held a software engineering role at OfficeTogether, a workplace management platform that was acquired by Envoy.[1]

Pedersen co-founded Egress Health alongside Matthew Kiflu. The company, founded in 2022, develops AI-driven automation tools targeting the revenue cycle management process in healthcare, an area the company describes as part of a $4.5 trillion industry.[2] Revenue cycle management encompasses the administrative and financial processes involved in tracking patient care episodes from registration through final payment.

Egress Health's platform focuses initially on dental offices, automating workflows including insurance eligibility verification, claims scrubbing, payment posting, and denial management. According to the company, its customers are able to eliminate one to two full-time administrative employees and collect five to fifteen percent more revenue each month as a result of implementing its tools. As of 2025, the platform had processed over 106,000 appointments.[2]

The company participated in Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch and has since been listed as acquired on Y Combinator's directory.[1]

Pedersen holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Harvard University.
