Ajith Govind is an Indian-American entrepreneur and data science expert who is the co-founder and CEO of Cactus (also known as Oncactus), a startup that provides an AI-powered call center platform for home service businesses. Cactus is a member of the Y Combinator Spring 2025 batch and is based in San Francisco.[1]

Early life and education

Govind studied Computer Science at Amrita University, where he received national recognition at IBM's "The Great Mind Challenge" competition.[2]

Career

Before founding Cactus, Govind worked at Mu Sigma, where he played a role in optimizing approximately $1 billion in global marketing spend for Dell. He also worked with 15 of the top 20 consumer packaged goods companies.[3]

Govind co-founded Turing Labs, an AI-focused B2B SaaS company that achieved Series A funding, raising over $20 million from investors including Insight Partners and Y Combinator. Turing Labs was part of the Y Combinator W20 batch, making Govind a two-time YC founder.[4] He also founded Cravd, a marketplace for hiring personal home chefs.

Govind holds patents in advanced machine learning, artificial intelligence, and causality algorithms, with expertise in areas including deep learning, neural networks, and Bayesian networks.[5]

Cactus

In partnership with co-founder Avinash Joshi, Govind launched Cactus, a 24/7 AI call center designed specifically for home service businesses such as plumbing, HVAC, and electrical companies. The platform uses artificial intelligence to answer inbound calls, qualify customers, book jobs, and conduct outbound follow-ups automatically, allowing business owners to capture more leads and retain customers without hiring additional staff.[6]

In November 2025, Cactus announced a $7 million seed funding round led by Wellington Management and Y Combinator, with participation from Pelion Venture Partners, Rebel Fund, and other investors.[7]
