Adam Skrocki is an American software engineer and entrepreneur known as the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of RadMate AI, a startup that developed an artificial intelligence-powered copilot for radiologists. The company was part of Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch.[1]

Career

Early career

Skrocki studied computer science at Cornell University, where he met his future co-founder, Mohamed Khalifa. After graduating, Skrocki joined Palantir Technologies as a software engineer, where he contributed to the initial launch of Palantir's AI Platform (AIP), the company's flagship product for deploying large language models in enterprise workflows, which launched publicly in 2023.[2]

RadMate AI

In 2023, Skrocki and Khalifa co-founded RadMate AI, with Khalifa serving as CEO and Skrocki as CTO. The company was motivated in part by challenges Skrocki's father faced as a practicing radiologist, including the administrative burden of generating detailed written reports for every imaging study reviewed. RadMate AI built a workflow tool designed to assist radiologists by analyzing radiology images and generating structured, complete radiology reports for the radiologist to review and submit. The product leveraged large language models to process dictated findings and produce proofread reports, with the stated goal of reducing the volume of words radiologists needed to dictate and the number of clicks required to finalize a report.[3]

RadMate AI was accepted into Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch and was based in San Francisco. Y Combinator's standard deal at the time provided participating companies with $500,000 in funding in exchange for equity, along with access to the accelerator's mentorship network and Demo Day investor presentations.[4] The company operated at the intersection of artificial intelligence, SaaS, and digital health, targeting radiology practices and health systems seeking to reduce reporting turnaround times and administrative overhead for radiologists.

Challenges and discontinuation of operations

RadMate AI faced significant structural challenges in entering the healthcare enterprise market, which typically involves long sales cycles, institutional procurement processes, and substantial regulatory compliance requirements. AI-based medical imaging software is subject to oversight by the Food and Drug Administration under its framework for Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), which can require clinical validation and formal clearance before commercial deployment in diagnostic workflows.[5]

A well-funded competitor, Rad AI, had already established distribution across a significant portion of U.S. health systems prior to RadMate AI's market entry, presenting an additional competitive obstacle for the early-stage startup. By 2025, RadMate AI's website was no longer serving content and the company's Y Combinator profile listed it as inactive, indicating that active operations had ceased. No formal shutdown announcement was made. No information has been made publicly available regarding whether the company raised additional external funding beyond the standard Y Combinator investment.

As of available records, Skrocki is based in Brooklyn, New York.
