Adam Gamieldien is a South African entrepreneur and co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) of Certus AI, a Y Combinator (Summer 2025)-backed startup that develops AI voice agents designed to replace traditional restaurant phone lines.[1] He co-founded the company in 2025 alongside Gurveer Singh (CEO) and Isaac Tom Nichols.[2]

Career

Gamieldien co-founded Certus AI in 2025. The company is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and was accepted into Y Combinator's Summer 2025 batch.[3] As CRO, Gamieldien is responsible for the company's revenue strategy and commercial operations, working alongside CEO Gurveer Singh and co-founder Isaac Tom Nichols.[4]

Certus AI builds an autonomous AI voice agent specifically designed for the restaurant industry. The system answers incoming phone calls around the clock, handling tasks including taking food orders, processing deliveries, booking reservations, upselling menu items, and managing customer complaints. The platform operates in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, and French, and integrates with point-of-sale and delivery systems such as Toast, Square, Clover, Uber Eats, and DoorDash.[5]

The company was founded to address the problem of missed calls in restaurants. According to Certus AI, individual restaurant locations can lose up to $100,000 per year in revenue from abandoned orders and unreturned calls, a problem the founders identified as largely unaddressed by existing restaurant technology.[6] The system is designed to operate without human intervention, managing the entire phone interaction from the initial customer call through to the restaurant's technology stack, including integration with major point-of-sale and delivery platforms.[7]

Certus AI has received investment from Founders Capital UK, which featured the company in a portfolio spotlight highlighting its approach to automating restaurant phone operations.[8] The company has been covered by several media outlets, including Business Insider Africa, Digital Journal, Tech Times, and Grit Daily News.[9][10][11]
