Adam Chandler is an American entrepreneur and co-founder of Permitify, a technology company that uses artificial intelligence to assist with building plan review, building code compliance, and site analysis for land development. Permitify was part of the Y Combinator Winter 2025 batch.[1]
Career
Prior to founding Permitify, Chandler worked in digital marketing roles. He served as a Marketing Coordinator at Deseret Digital Media, where his responsibilities included marketing automation, social media management, SEO/SEM, email marketing, and Google Ads. Before that, he worked as a Marketing Specialist at another company.[2]
Chandler co-founded Permitify to address inefficiencies in the building permit and plan review process. The company develops AI-powered tools that serve two primary use cases. For municipal building departments, Permitify functions as an AI co-pilot for plan reviewers, enabling them to significantly increase their productivity amid staffing shortages. According to the company, city building departments are often understaffed and overworked, and Permitify aims to reduce the time required to issue building permits while helping these departments remain financially self-sustaining.[3]
For private-sector land development teams, architects, and engineers, Permitify provides AI-assisted site analysis tools. The platform aggregates zoning information, land use rules, environmental constraints, overlay districts, utility data, and other regulatory details into a single interface. Users can query the system with practical questions about building height limits, setback exceptions, and other code-related constraints, receiving source-backed answers. The tool is designed to help development teams make go/no-go decisions on projects earlier in the process, before committing significant time and resources.[4]
In addition to Y Combinator, Permitify has been associated with the Sandbox accelerator program and Google for Startups, as indicated on the company's website.[5] The company operates in the intersection of several technology sectors, including generative AI, government technology, computer vision, and construction technology.
