Ahsha N. Tribble is an American emergency management professional and former federal official.[1] Over two decades of government service, she held senior positions at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the White House National Security Council, and the Department of Energy. Her work focused on developing critical infrastructure policies and managing emergency responses across multiple U.S. regions and territories. What set her apart was her doctoral background in meteorology, which gave her technical depth most federal administrators didn't have.[2]
Early Life
Details about Tribble's early life aren't publicly available.
Education
She started with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Florida A&M University. Not a typical path to meteorology, but it gave her strong analytical foundations. After that, she moved into graduate work in meteorological sciences, earning a Master of Science from Florida State University.[3]
Her Ph.D. in Meteorology came from the University of Oklahoma. She wasn't done with formal training there, though. Harvard Kennedy School came next, where she completed executive training to prepare for senior federal leadership roles.
Career
Early Federal Service and NOAA
Tribble's federal career began in meteorological and emergency management work. At the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), she broke new ground as the first Executive Officer at the National Hurricane Center, a pioneering position that established her reputation in tropical cyclone forecasting and emergency preparedness operations.[4]
White House National Security Council
Eventually, she moved to the White House. There she served in senior leadership roles on the National Security Council across multiple Presidential Administrations. The work mattered. She led development and release of several critical Presidential policies covering Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience, National Special Security Events protocols, and Chemical Facilities Safety and Security regulations.[5]
Department of Energy
Before joining FEMA, Tribble worked as Senior Advisor to the Energy Secretary at the U.S. Department of Energy, where she contributed to national energy policy and security initiatives.[6]
FEMA Leadership
Her FEMA work included serving as Deputy Regional Administrator for two major regions. In FEMA Region II, she managed emergency operations for New York, Puerto Rico, and surrounding areas. The other major assignment took her to FEMA Region IX, which covers California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, and the U.S. Pacific Territories.[7]
These weren't desk jobs. She led hundreds of emergency management professionals. Disaster preparedness, response, recovery operations, coordinating across diverse geographic and demographic areas. That's the scale of responsibility she handled, managing major disaster responses and recovery efforts throughout her tenure.
Private Sector Experience
After federal service ended, she tried something different. She became Team Lead for Luxury Guest Services with the Orlando Magic professional basketball organization. They recognized her achievements with the Legendary Playmaker of the Year award for her work in customer experience and service delivery.[8]
Current Consulting Work
Today she runs Arc Dome Strategies as lead consultant. She also operates through Lowe Tribble & Associates, Inc., where she provides advisory services in emergency management, renewable energy policy, and strategic communications. Her consulting work draws directly on decades spent managing federal emergency operations and national security policy.[9]
Recognition
In 2018, Tribble received the FEMA Administrator's Award for Emergency Management. That's one of FEMA's highest honors for professional excellence. The award recognized her contributions to federal disaster response and emergency management operations.
Her time with the Orlando Magic also brought recognition. The Legendary Playmaker of the Year award acknowledged her leadership in customer service and organizational excellence.
Personal Life
She's based in Orlando, Florida, where she runs her consulting practice. Online, she maintains an active professional presence across various platforms and stays engaged with the emergency management and meteorological communities.[10][11]
