Stephanie A. Burns up (delivered 24 January 1955, Torrington, Wyoming) can be an American organosilicon chemist and businesswoman, who offered as Chief executive and CEO of Dow Corning from 2003-2011. She’s also offered as honorary chief executive of Culture of Chemical Market.

Early life and education

Burns, the girl of an British and history teacher father, and an agent mother, was created in Torrington, Wyoming. She graduated using a bachelor's level from Florida International School in Miami, and gained a doctorate in organic chemistry at Iowa Condition School, before commencing post-doctoral research at the School of Montpellier in France.


Uses up joined Dow Corning in 1982 in France like a researcher and professional in organosilicon chemistry, which may be the research into compounds manufactured from carbon and silicon. She carried out much function into silicones, discovering new methods to make heat-resistant plastic, and is acknowledged with inventing a fresh silicon-containing polymer, that she keeps a patent. She also offered as its Main Operating Official from January 2004, so that as Chairman from January 2006, until her pension, changing Gary E. Anderson.

Burns in addition has served while honorary president from the Culture of Chemical Market, as chairwoman from the American Chemistry Council, and on numerous planks, including those of the Michigan Molecular Institute as well as the Culture for Women's Wellness Research.
